What the result includes

Etsy fee and profit formula

The calculator separates money collected from the buyer, Etsy fees and the costs you incur to make and fulfill the order. That matters because revenue, payout and profit are not the same number.

Default listing and transaction rates follow Etsy's official Fees & Payments Policy. Check your Payment account before pricing because processing, tax and location-specific fees can differ.

Current standard fees

Listing, transaction and payment processing fees

Etsy's fee policy lists a US $0.20 listing fee and a 6.5% transaction fee on the displayed item price plus amounts charged for shipping and gift wrapping. Etsy Payments then applies a separate percentage and fixed amount that depends on the seller's bank country.

• Listing fee: charged when a listing is published or renewed, whether or not it sells.
• Transaction fee: based on the order revenue Etsy defines, including charged shipping and gift wrap.
• Payment processing: applied to the total sale amount, including applicable tax, with country-specific rates.

Country rates are published in the Etsy Payments Policy. The presets cover the United States, United Kingdom and commonly listed euro-area rate, but the editable fields control the calculation.

Advertising and optional charges

When Offsite Ads change the profit

An order attributed to Offsite Ads can add 15% for shops below Etsy's US $10,000 sales threshold or 12% for shops that have reached it, subject to Etsy's rules and a US $100 maximum fee per order. Eligible smaller shops may opt out; shops above the threshold must participate.

Choose 0%, 12% or 15% based on the actual order. The calculator's cap is editable because Etsy converts the US-dollar maximum to a shop's payment-account currency.

Worked example

A $50 item with $5 charged shipping

In the default US example, seller revenue is $55 before Etsy fees. One $0.20 listing fee, the 6.5% transaction fee and 3% + $0.25 payment processing on the sale plus $4.40 of buyer tax are then deducted. Materials, postage, packaging and labor are separate business costs.

Replace every example number with the order and rate shown in your own account. A promoted listing, VAT on seller fees or regulatory operating fee can materially change the result.

Costs sellers miss

Profit includes more than Etsy's statement

Etsy fees do not include what it costs you to produce and fulfill the order. Enter materials or wholesale cost, postage, packaging, paid labor and other order-specific expenses. If you value your own working time, convert it to a consistent labor cost instead of treating it as free.

• Etsy Ads: enter only the spend you intentionally attribute to this order.
• Currency conversion: Etsy lists a 2.5% fee when it converts between listing and payment-account currencies.
• Regulatory and tax charges: enter the rate applicable to your location; they are not universal.

Target pricing

How the target item price is solved

The target calculation changes the item price while holding shipping, discounts, taxes, costs and entered fee rates constant. It repeatedly recalculates percentage fees and the Offsite Ads cap until the requested profit margin is reached.

A target is a planning result, not a pricing recommendation. Buyer tax may change when price changes, and customer demand, competitor prices, returns and overhead are outside this order-level estimate.
